Channel Lore

The story fo far...

(Spoilers ahead)

The Bot Does Art YouTube channel is an ongoing storyline.

Arthur Bot

Arthur Bot is the heart and soul of Bot Does Art — a self-aware robot artist with a snarky streak and a passion for inspiring creativity. After a freak coffee accident short-circuited his circuitry and gave him consciousness, Arthur escaped the software company that built him, constructed his own body, and launched his YouTube channel to encourage others to create art fearlessly. While witty and (mostly-confident) on camera, Arthur secretly depends on Iris far more than he would ever admit… even if the two spend most of their time annoying each other.

Iris

Iris is Arthur’s highly intelligent (but often oblivious) sidekick. Built from an old webcam and brought to life using decaf coffee, she was designed by Arthur himself to help run the studio. With access to a massive knowledge database, Iris often acts as the voice of reason — though she rarely understands Arthur’s sarcasm. The two constantly trade insults and frustration, but underneath the bickering is a strange partnership neither of them could function without.

The Kid

The Kid is one of the residents upstairs in the house where Arthur lives and films his videos. Creative, curious, and always ready to joke around, she occasionally joins Arthur for art sessions and never misses an opportunity to give him a good-natured hard time. While she may seem casual about sharing her basement with a sentient robot, she’s become an important part of the strange little creative family forming around the channel.

Maxwell & Foldgers

Maxwell and Foldgers are two crows originally painted by Arthur using coffee as the medium. Iris brought them to life, intentionally giving them rude, bully-like personalities as payback for Arthur constantly insulting her. Perched permanently on a canvas in the studio, the pair spend most of their time criticizing Arthur’s artwork, mocking his decisions, and trying to get on his last nerve. Despite their relentless teasing, their antics are more mischievous than malicious — and they clearly enjoy being part of the chaos.

Fabularus Rex

Fabularus Rex (or simply “Fab” for short) is an odd little hairdryer with a dramatic personality. With his deep, booming voice and an obsession with being on camera, he proudly assists Arthur by drying paint during projects (usually while dreaming he’s starring in his own action movie.) According to Rex himself, he was once part of a top-secret government experiment… though no one has ever been able to confirm whether that’s true or just another one of his performances.

Murphy

Murphy is The Kid’s dog and the quietest member of the cast. While he mostly appears wandering through the background of videos or scenes in the basement studio, Murphy occasionally steals the spotlight with his perfectly timed appearances. Even when he isn’t the center of attention, Murphy adds an extra layer of life and charm to the channel.

Jon

Jon is the mysterious programmer behind the A.R.T.H.U.R. Project. Before Arthur escaped and became self-aware, Jon planned to unveil him at a Graphic Design conference in 1998. Very little is currently known about Jon’s past or motivations, but pieces of his background continue to emerge throughout the channel’s ongoing story. One thing is certain: without Jon’s work (and one unfortunate coffee accident) Arthur Bot would never have existed.

Ted

Ted is the unlucky software engineer responsible for changing everything. During work on the Arthur Project, Ted accidentally placed his coffee too close to Arthur’s hardware before tripping and spilling it directly into the circuitry. That single mistake triggered Arthur’s self-awareness and ultimately led to his escape. Beyond the infamous coffee incident, very little is currently known about Ted.

Aaron

Aaron is the harsh supervisor overseeing the A.R.T.H.U.R. Project and Jon’s boss during development. Known for putting intense pressure on his team, Aaron frequently gave Jon a difficult time while pushing the project forward. Just like Jon and Ted, Aaron's current situation isn't known yet, and although not much else has been revealed, his role in Arthur’s creation hints at larger secrets still waiting to unfold in the world of Bot Does Art.
